Rowlett's weekly bulk pickup

Republic Services picks up brush and bulky items every week on your regular trash day, with no call needed. The limit is 2 cubic yards a week, about the size of a washer and dryer. Extra yards are billed by the cubic yard.

Set it out by 7 a.m. on trash day, in front of the house between the curb and sidewalk. There is no alley pickup.
Keep piles 5 feet from carts, mailboxes, utility boxes and parked cars.
Republic asks that single items weigh no more than 50 pounds.
Contractors, including tree and landscape crews, have to haul off their own debris.

C.M. Hinton Jr. Regional Landfill

Run by the City of Garland but located in Rowlett, at 3175 Elm Grove Rd. Open to the public weekdays 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m.–3 p.m. After your free trips, you pay by the ton.

Rowlett junk removal: common questions

Does Rowlett pick up bulk trash?

Yes. Republic Services picks up to 2 cubic yards of brush and bulky items each week on your regular trash day. Set it out by 7 a.m. in front of the house. It won't take refrigerators, freezers, tires, paint or concrete, and anything over 2 yards costs extra. For bigger jobs or things still in the house, we can haul it all in one visit.

Can you take an old refrigerator or freezer?

Yes. Rowlett's curbside pickup won't take them, but we will. Units with Freon carry a small recycling fee so the refrigerant can be recovered properly. We'll include it in your quote.

Can I take junk to the landfill myself?

You can. Rowlett households get two free trips a year to the Hinton Landfill or the Garland Transfer Station with a Landfill Pass from Utility Billing. You'll need a truck or trailer, a tarp (Garland's disposal sites add a $20 charge for uncovered loads) and someone to help lift.
