Fate's bulk pickup

Waste Connections, the city's contracted hauler, takes one bulk item per trash day with no call needed, as long as it's no more than 50 pounds or 48 inches. Anything bigger has to be scheduled with Waste Connections, and some items carry a fee.

Items go at the curb by 6 a.m. on trash day, in separate piles for carts, bulk items and limbs, 3 feet apart.
Besides your cart, you can set out either up to 10 30-gallon bags (35 pounds max each) or up to 10 brush bundles no longer than 48 inches.
Anything with Freon has to be tagged by a licensed technician.
The city held a bulk drop-off for residents in April 2026, with a driver's license and utility bill.

Spring bulk trash drop-off

In 2026 the city ran a bulk drop-off at the Barnes Pump Station downtown, April 27–30, for metal, brush and household bulky items. Residents brought a driver's license and a current utility bill and unloaded their own items. No refrigerators, tires, electronics, chemicals or construction debris.

3175 Elm Grove Rd, Rowlett. Open to the public weekdays 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Non-Garland residents pay by the weight of the load. Cover your load: uncovered loads pay a $20 surcharge.

Paint & chemicals

We can't haul paint of any kind, chemicals, fuels or oils.

HHW Solutions front-porch pickup

A monthly pickup from your front porch through the city's partner, HHW Solutions, on the first Tuesday of the month. Schedule ahead and set items out before 8 a.m. Takes paint, chemicals, pool and yard products, batteries, propane tanks and electronics.

Does Fate pick up bulk trash?

Yes, one item per trash day with no call needed, as long as it's 50 pounds or less and no longer than 48 inches. For anything bigger, you schedule a pickup with Waste Connections, and some items carry a fee. For several pieces at once, we can haul it all in one visit.

Can I drop off junk myself in Fate?

At the city's spring bulk drop-off. In 2026 it ran April 27–30 at the Barnes Pump Station downtown, for residents with a driver's license and utility bill. Otherwise, the Hinton Landfill in Rowlett is open to the public and charges non-Garland residents by weight.

Will you take a refrigerator in Fate?

Yes. The city only takes appliances with Freon if a licensed technician has tagged them. We take them as they are; units with Freon carry a $40 recycling fee, listed on your quote.
