Before you call anyone

Garland's weekly brush & bulky pickup

Garland's own Sanitation crews pick up brush and bulky items every week on your green-cart day, with no call needed. It covers furniture, mattresses, appliances and carpet, as long as your pile follows the city's rules.

Bulky items can go out no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before, and must be out by 7 a.m. Front curb only; nothing from alleys.
Make separate piles at least 4 feet apart for brush, bulky items, appliances and bagged leaves.
The city won't collect individual items over 40 pounds, and rain-soaked piles may be left to dry.
Remodeling debris from your own project can go out only four times a calendar year.

1426 Commerce St. Free for Garland residents with a driver's license and current utility bill. Weekdays 8 a.m.–5 p.m. (arrive by 4:30). No trailers, box trucks or dump trucks.

C.M. Hinton Jr. Regional Landfill

3175 Elm Grove Rd, Rowlett. Also free for Garland residents, and the only city site that takes trailers and brick. Weekdays 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Saturdays 7 a.m.–3 p.m.

Garland Residential Recycling Center

1426 Commerce St. Takes cardboard, scrap metal, appliances, motor oil, car batteries and clothing. Loads without a tarp pay a $20 surcharge at city disposal sites.

Paint & chemicals

We can't haul paint of any kind, chemicals, fuels or oils.

Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center

11234 Plano Rd, Dallas. Free for residents with a driver's license and a utility bill. Takes paint, chemicals, pool and lawn products, batteries, auto fluids and small electronics.

Garland junk removal: common questions

Does Garland pick up bulky trash?

Yes, every week on your green-cart day. Put bulky items at the front curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before, in separate piles for brush, bulky items and appliances. The city won't take roofing, concrete, brick, tires or paint, and skips individual items over 40 pounds.

Will you take roofing, brick or concrete?

Yes. Garland's curb crews won't, but we will. Heavy materials are priced differently from household junk because of their weight, so we'll give you a firm price on site before we start.

Can I take junk to the Garland Transfer Station myself?

Yes, if you're a Garland resident. It's free with your driver's license and a current utility bill, but the Transfer Station doesn't accept trailers. If you're pulling a trailer, use the Hinton Landfill on Elm Grove Rd instead, and bring a tarp.
